Ms. Adrienne Marie P. Gonzales, an MHE student at the UP Diliman College of Home Economics, and Prof. Joanne R. Bantang, Dean of the College of Home Economics and professor at the Department of Home Economics Education, received the Best Oral Presentation Award at the PATHESCU Conference 2026.
Their research presentation, โDressed to Express: Exploring the Link Between Fashion Consciousness and Online Clothing Purchase Decisions,โ highlights the valuable research contributions of the UP CHE community.
Congratulations to Ms. Gonzales and Dean Bantang on this well-deserved recognition!
Dr. Irene R. Betalas, a recent Master of Home Economics graduate of the UP College of Home Economics and CHE Batch 2026 Valedictorian (Post-Graduate Level), delivered a plenary talk at the PATHESCU Conference 2026 on July 16, 2026, at the Zuri Hotel in Iloilo City.
Her plenary talk, titled โEducation and Family Life: Empowering Households Through Knowledge and Skills,โ was one of the featured sessions of the conference.
The UP College of Home Economics Office of Graduate Studies is proud to recognize our graduate students who joined the PATHESCU Conference 2026, held July 16-17, 2026, at the Zuri Hotel, Iloilo City, where they shared their research with Home Economics teachers, researchers, and professionals from across the country.
Their participation highlights the College's commitment to advancing research, supporting collaboration among scholars, and contributing to the development of the field of Home Economics.

Frances Abegail G. Quezon, a graduate student in the MS Food Science program, presented her research paper titled โPrediction of Sensory Attribute Intensity in Powdered Coffee Mix Using Random Forest Regressionโ on July 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN.
Socorro Alma F. Gammad, a graduate student in the PhD in Nutrition program, presented her research paper titled โThe Association of Third Trimester Antepartum Characteristics with Neonatal Birth Outcomesโ on June 10, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 NN.
Erwin L. Descallar, a graduate student in the Master of Science in Food Science program, presented his research paper titled โDevelopment of Processing Protocols for Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) By-product: Coconut Skim Milk as Potential Source of Proteinโ on June 3, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM PhST (7:00 AM to 10:00 AM BST).
UP COLLEGE OF HOME ECONOMICSย GRADUATE STUDENT ORIENTATION 2026
A new chapter begins as the CHE Office of Graduate Studies welcomed CHE graduate students through the CHE Graduate Student Orientation 2026 with the theme โCharting New Horizons: Your Graduate Journey Beginsโ on September 7, 2026, held via Zoom.
The program began with a welcome message from College of Home Economics Dean Prof. Joanne R. Bantang. This was followed by an Academic Orientation led by Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and OGS Coordinator Prof. Consuelo T. Chua, who discussed important information and guidelines to help students navigate their graduate studies journey. The CHE Department Chairs also shared welcome messages and important information about their respective graduate programs.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Chua and a virtual photo with the CHE graduate community.
We wish our CHE graduate students a meaningful and fulfilling journey filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities!
